Join us for a volunteer workday focused on removing invasive plant species and supporting the health of our local ecosystems. Volunteers will help manage and reduce the spread of Yellow Iris Flower. This is a great opportunity to spend time outdoors, learn about native landscapes, and make a direct impact on the long-term health of the park. This event is hosted by Friends of Lake Wingra. Please bring extra pruning shears if you can.
Responsibilities
- Identify and remove invasive plant species
- Assist with proper disposal of removed plant material
- Follow guidance from staff or experienced volunteers on removal techniques
- Work as part of a team to cover designated areas
Qualifications
- No prior experience needed
- Bring extra pruning shears if you can
- Willingness to work outdoors and perform light to moderate physical activity
- Interest in conservation, native plants, or land stewardship
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely with hand tools
