Public Planting Day - Hiestand Park

Description

Join us for a Community Planting Day at the disc golf course. Volunteers will help plant native shrubs and trees to improve the course and surrounding natural areas. This opportunity is great for disc golfers and anyone interested in getting outside and contributing to a lasting park improvement. Staff and experienced volunteers will be on site to provide guidance, so all experience levels are welcome.

Responsibilities

  • Plant native shrubs and trees in designated areas
  • Assist with moving plants, mulch, and basic tools as needed
  • Follow staff guidance on planting techniques and site layout
  • Help keep the work area organized and safe

Qualifications

  • Interest in being outdoors and supporting park improvements
  • Ability to do light to moderate physical activity such as digging and carrying plants
  • No prior experience needed

Additional Notes

  • This opportunity takes place over two days.  There is always a chance we finish early so please be understanding if we finish early especially on April 30.
  • Dress for the weather and wear closed-toe shoes
  • Gloves and tools will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own
  • Bring a water bottle
