Join the community in helping care for the natural area located at 1025 N. Sherman Avenue on the near northeast side of Madison. This emerging natural area will become a future Madison park, with the official park name to be determined at a later date. Volunteers will help remove trash and debris to support the health of the marsh and surrounding landscape. This is a great opportunity to spend time outdoors, meet neighbors, and help care for a space that will become an important natural area for the community.
Responsibilities
- Pick up trash and debris throughout the natural area.
- Use cleanup bags and grabbers to collect litter safely.
- Help place collected trash in designated disposal areas.
- Work carefully around marshy areas and natural vegetation.
Qualifications
- Able to walk on uneven or marshy ground.
- Comfortable spending time outdoors for up to two hours.
- Willing to work as part of a small volunteer group to improve the natural area.
Additional Notes
- Wear work clothes and sturdy shoes or boots suitable for marshy conditions.
- Cleanup bags, gloves, grabbers, and some energy bars will be provided.
- This opportunity is organized with a still-forming Friends group supporting this natural area.
