Volunteer Cleanup - Natural Area (future park) Sherman Ave & Roth St.

Description

Join the community in helping care for the natural area located at 1025 N. Sherman Avenue on the near northeast side of Madison. This emerging natural area will become a future Madison park, with the official park name to be determined at a later date. Volunteers will help remove trash and debris to support the health of the marsh and surrounding landscape. This is a great opportunity to spend time outdoors, meet neighbors, and help care for a space that will become an important natural area for the community.

Responsibilities

  • Pick up trash and debris throughout the natural area.
  • Use cleanup bags and grabbers to collect litter safely.
  • Help place collected trash in designated disposal areas.
  • Work carefully around marshy areas and natural vegetation.

Qualifications

  • Able to walk on uneven or marshy ground.
  • Comfortable spending time outdoors for up to two hours.
  • Willing to work as part of a small volunteer group to improve the natural area.

Additional Notes

  • Wear work clothes and sturdy shoes or boots suitable for marshy conditions.
  • Cleanup bags, gloves, grabbers, and some energy bars will be provided.
  • This opportunity is organized with a still-forming Friends group supporting this natural area.
