Join Friends of Ridgewood Trails for a hands-on conservation event focused on repairing gully and rill erosion along the trail system. This effort supports the group’s mission to preserve the natural beauty of Ridgewood Trails and protect its fragile soil structure.
Friends of Ridgewood Trails (FORT)
Volunteers will help move and spread material in targeted erosion areas under the guidance of event leaders. This is a great opportunity to learn about trail stewardship and soil conservation while directly improving the park.
Future events will focus on erosion prevention through native plantings and careful trail maintenance practices
Responsibilities
•
Participate in a bucket brigade from the top of the hill
• Help transport material from Capitol View Prairie via the Sigma Octanes trail
• Use rakes to assist with spreading and stabilizing material
• Follow guidance from event leaders to designated drop sites
What to Bring
• Work gloves
• Garden wagon or wheelbarrows if you
have one
• A rake if you have one
• Closed-toe shoes and
weather-appropriate clothing
• A reusable water bottle
Meeting Location
Meet at 10:00 am on Sunday 3/29 at either:
• The northeast entrance via the trail along the railroad tracks
or
• The end of the lower parking lot of Ridgewood Trails Apartments
