Join the Madison Parks Earth Day Challenge and help care for your parks on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm (please note this time differs from other Earth Day Sites). Volunteers will work independently or in small groups at designated parks across the city as part of a citywide Earth Day effort. This is a simple, meaningful way to give back to your community and enjoy time outdoors.
Responsibilities
- Trash pickup throughout the park
- Light raking or stick removal at select locations
- Weeding, moving mulch, using loppers
Qualifications
- Comfortable working outdoors
- Able to walk on uneven terrain
- Youth (under 14) must be accompanied by an adult
Event Day Notes
- No Parks staff will be onsite, volunteers from Badger Rock Neighborhood Association will be on site to direct work.
- Please wear long pants, sturdy shoes, and clothing suitable for outdoor work
- Bring a water bottle, gloves, and loppers if you have them. Extras will be available
- If you're bringing a kid, please bring them a child-sized snow shovel if you have one. They get to ride on the mulch trailer, and all the child-wielded pitchforks made us a bit nervous
Work Goals
- Weed the flower bed
- Aerate the mulch around each tree
- Spread new mulch
- Remove grape vine and young walnut trees
