This is a fantastic opportunity for you to connect with residents and enjoy a great event. Get ready to roll up your sleeves and support communities around Madison with Parks Alive! Whether you’re helping with tasks or engaging with the community, we are depending on you to interact with everyone in a positive and engaging way.
The support we will need on event day will include but may not be limited to the roles and tasks below. We are looking for:
2 general support roles
2 community engagement roles
2 refreshment support roles
NOTE: If you have a strong preference for a role please email Debra at: dalleyne@cityofmadison.com. Otherwise, we will assign you to one of these three roles as needed based on demands of the event.
As a general support volunteer, you’ll:
· Assist with setup (think tents and tables!)
· Help clean up the park before and after the event
· Assist community partners with unloading and loading
· Supporting Parks Alive staff throughout the event
As refreshment support volunteer you’ll:
· Be scooping delicious cold treats during event time from 5-7pm (or until the ice cream runs out!)
· Distributing and managing the flow of frozen treats
· Helping with setup and cleanup of the serving area
· Popping, bagging or distributing popcorn
· Helping to distribute drinks
· You will be required to wash your hands with soap, wear latex gloves and interact with cleaning/ sanitizing products.
As a community engagement volunteer, you’ll:
· Assist with community engagement activities
· Assist with welcome activities and inform participants about future events
· Share information on activities
· Administer surveys
· Engage with participants
NOTE:
Be sure to check in with Debra Alleyne, the Parks Alive Coordinator, to see where your help is needed throughout the event. Just a heads-up: when things are running smoothly, take the chance to chat with residents and build connections!
When you sign up, ideally we would expect you to be available to stay from 4:30pm-7:30pm. This is a fun and meaningful chance to be part of a great event and support the community. If you need to amend the time that you are available please contact Debra Alleyne at dalleyne@cityofmadison.com
