Volunteer: Ride the Drive: Bike Ambassador - McPike Park

Bike Ambassadors provide mobile support along the Ride the Drive route. Volunteers will be paired with a Madison Parks staff member in a designated zone and will ride throughout the area to help ensure the event runs smoothly and safely. Bike Ambassadors assist volunteers, monitor intersections and signage, and help respond to needs along the route.

Responsibilities
• Use your bike to provide mobile support within your assigned zone along the route
• Check in periodically with Madison Parks staff to identify needs in your area
• Deliver safety vests, lanyards, volunteer shirts, and route maps to intersection volunteers at the start of each shift
• Ensure volunteers are in place and understand their responsibilities
• Monitor intersections, cones, barriers, and signage to ensure they remain properly positioned
• Help keep the route clear of debris and assist volunteers with supplies, water, or break coverage
• Communicate with participants, volunteer captains, and intersection guides to maintain safety and a positive event experience
• Check in with information stations to see if additional materials or support are needed
• In the afternoon, remind participants that streets reopen to traffic at 3:00pm and assist vendors and participants in clearing the route if needed

Qualifications
• Must bring your own bike and helmet
• Comfortable riding for the duration of your shift
• Able to communicate clearly with volunteers, participants, and staff
• Able to carry supplies using a backpack, bike bag, basket, or trailer

• Safety vest will be provided
• Bring water, sunscreen, and a fully charged cell phone
• Maps, schedules, and emergency procedures will be provided
